There's a book, chances are you haven't heard of it, titled “The 4 Hour Work Week.” To be clear, I'm not recommending reading it (no need, really. It was prescient at the time but dated now). The description and title tells you everything you need to know:
The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9–5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich is a self-help book by Timothy Ferriss
In other words, basically, work remote, don't do an extra 50% for a 3% raise, maximize your own time. I'm betting that most people in the business world (especially middle managers) have either heard of the book and what it says, or read it.
