I have gotten close to some people in management over the past few months where I work. They often refer to employees as “bodies”, especially when they talk to each other. “We just need a warm body in here”, “we just need more bodies”, “it’ll be good to have an extra body”, etc. This really grosses me out. It’s so dehumanizing. I know that I must be talked about like that when I’m not around as well. I’m just another body to be thrown into the grinder to eek out a profit. We need to band together and show them that we are human beings.
