I will use “they” pronoun to protect the glorious person's identity.
I have one superior (PA, not AM) at the Amazon building I work who is actually one of the good ones. When I take overtime, they're always willing to help and you can bullshit for a minute no problem. As long as you try- they understand and have no problem excusing time off task.
They actually spoke out in an all-hands meeting proclaiming the absurdity that: trainers, order picker drivers, and forklift drivers in our building all get the same pay as people on the floor while having the burden of greater responsibility. Our building has issues finding staffing for pit operations but only offers 5upt every month if you operate a truck for 40hours, so not the biggest incentive.
In the meeting, when the slide showed the metrics of our building's “success”, everyone was confused on why the folks we work with are struggling to make ends meet and all we get is “thank you from the kindess of our heart, uwu- here, have a free stale cookie :3” from building leads.
The “good one” with an original thought, along with a few other people self included, called their bs out and got deflection as a response. They can deflect any blame due to the main problem of getting our wages increased is not based on trickling down of metrics and company success. That's kinda obvious lol but here's why they can deflect:
- I'm not sure if saying this here will get me reprimanded but: The “problem” with Amazon's Tier 1 and (I believe) Tier 3 wages are not directly dictated by Amazon but by a third party company that supposedly checks for competition in the area to determine a wage increase(or not). I assume this company gets paid loads by Amazon so totally no conflict of interest there, HR claims there's no bias because of course they'd say that :/
Sorry if my wording was hard to read. That's all I have for now and thanks if you've read this far ️ Yall have a wonderful day.
