So my gf(25) and I(28) are struggling…. I mean STRUGGLING, as I'm sure most Americans are at this point (and a good portion of the globe but mainly america.) In the last three years I've worked six jobs, a couple management spots and some food service here and there to get by between the bigger jobs I did have. Each one has almost made me more bitter than the last and it just doesn't get better…. I keep not getting calls back or getting rejection emails for not having enough qualifying experience or my favorite, I have too much experience!! To backtrack a bit more, three years ago I moved down south from NY. It's been weird leaving my friends and support system back there but I moved to be closer with my family (there's a rocky relationship there but this subreddit isn't the place for all that drama) I now realize I need to go back because of my mental health and because I now have a younger sister who needs to be taken care of (my father passed in Dec.) It's been hard enough finding a job as it has been keeping one between entitled/incompetent management or coworker drama that I never want anything to do with or just the general lack of human decency from generations above me. Now to be fair the younger generation has it's faults too but I'm tired of “back in my day” well I'm sorry but back in your day you didn't have to pay these outrageous living fees and taxes just to exist. We seriously need to organize something to get the point across or otherwise people like me and our common man are going to starve or freeze to death and the news is just going to cover it up until there's nothing left. We really can't let this government control our right to be happily fed and housed. We need to stand together and help each other reach a general outcome that makes everyone happy. No one needs to “pay for what they've done” but something needs to happen asap because I can't afford rent soon and I can't make it home to my support system and I KNOW I'm not the only person out there feeling this sense of urgency due to the high dangers of this economy.
