I got hired impromtu after being told the position I had was ending. That should of been red flag number one. I work security and the first postion was sweet. I sat in my car and watched a building and got no breaks or lunch but pay was great and super eazy. My new position now is a supervisor over a call center. I control and maintain badges,coordinate movement of employees when they left their badge at their deck, Recieve packages, sigh in trainies and contractors, all while maintaining building security too. The issue is they won't let us take lunches but working lunches and no breaks on any shifts even my 8 hours. I have to ask permisison to use the restroom even. The pay is even a down grade from my last position. I called my boss then her boss about how I can help the people under me get lunches or breaks. “you sitting down is your break” and “you guys do that much work”. Yes my position is sitting down but I watch to make sure people have their badges and don't allow those without to get on the call floor. I am constantly watching and asking “may I see your badge” while multi-tasking on other duties. I asked politely and professionally about the issue 3 times now. They won't work with me be a 30 min lunch or a 2 10 mins breaks. I checked the laws won't help me as a live in mississippi. I simply don't understand how they think people can work in these conditions or how they will keep employees. Oh and the kicker? I wear a unifrom,get in when the head boss of the building does in the morning, and make the least of anyone else in the building, only the people under me make less. I just feel like a warm body to fill a spot and not heard at all. The people here in the call center are great and will work with me just not the company I am working for.
