there are lots of articles about how restaurant workers are having a rough go now that things are sorta (theyre really not) going back to “normal”. less than a week after the mandate was lifted here in california Ive noticed a sharp uptick in disrespectful rude and sometimes violent customers in thenstores in my area. i read also that the FBI wrote some warning that there may be an increase in armed robberies and potential shootigs because of the formula shortage. there are still huge supply chain issues with getting things to stay stocked in stores and a lot of customers seem to think it is some kind of personal slight against them.
My job has gone from hard to damn near impossible during the last few months. we're not ok. A lot of us were grateful to be employed this whole time but its starting to feel more like we're grateful we're only being beaten instead of being starved.
i think its really important we continue to acknowledge that restaurant workers, taxi drivers, nurses and so on are having a really hard time; id just like there to be a little more acknowledgement of grocery store workers also.nthis shit has gone from bad to worse faster than greased lightning and its not ok.
