So many people with the skills to start small businesses stay in meaningless corporate jobs for the sake of health insurance. Small businesses can't compete with big corporations because the cost of providing health insurance to a few employees is exorbitant. The Healthcare exchanges make Healthcare attainable for a sole proprietor, but they are difficult to navigate and can be confusing for an average person.

Medicare and medicaid already insure the very poor, very sick and very old. Statistically, these people are more likely to require more expensive care. We are already paying for the most expensive people, while the less expensive patients just spend thousands enriching insurance companies with premiums and deductibles in a backwards lottery.

If we had universal Healthcare, the playing field would be more level. Employees would be better able to switch between jobs, start new ventures or even work part time. Even some low-wage jobs would be better able to compete as they wouldn't be competing with jobs that offer benefits and perks. These jobs would, of course, still suck.

The main problem with this idea is that after two years of pandemic our Healthcare system is ill-equipped to handle and influx of patients who are newly covered.

This kind of shortfall could be addressed by allowing legal immigration and amnesty to Healthcare workers and caregivers that are needed for our aging population. Free Job training, coupled with grants and loan forgiveness to pay for needed Healthcare workers would also be an aspect of legislation to make this a reality.
