Thinking about transferring positions.

So I work as a student worker at the local community college I’m currently attending, I don’t make much but the flexibility of my schedule and overall chill vibes make it worth it. My problem is that after the summer break both my bosses (It’s just us three running our department) have been acting different from last term. I was allowed to study in my downtime the last two terms and now they have made comments a if it’s no longer okay. I known the main supervisor has been having issues with a sick parent and my other boss is having marital issues with her husband. But now the entire vibe is different and I’m really not feeling like it’s working out. Would it be wrong for me to switch departments without telling them, or should I voice my concerns and hope they don’t let me go on the spot?…

I really enjoyed my position because of the type of work it was and how understanding they were of my situation, but that’s not the case anymore. TIA
