This sub has work-radicalised me, thank you

I am unemployed currently but have landed a Data Analyst job just 2 weeks ago, beginning Monday. All is going well so far, but I distinctly remember the following: HR lady runs me through the procedures that will follow, shift is gonna be 9 hours with 1hr break. It's a night shift, so I ask if I can somehow take my break 1hr before the end of my shift , ending my shift 1 hour before it's supposed to (essentially working 8 hours straight which I more than can, it's remote). She says it might be possible but she doesn't know, and proceeds to say “Some things might arise that need your attention, I'm sure one hour or so doesn't sound like much” I said nothing, but I remember I literally squinted my eyes as if she was in front of me. No, I will not have my time disrespected.…

I said nothing, but I remember I literally squinted my eyes as if she was in front of me. No, I will not have my time disrespected. I WILL take my break like so whenever I feel like it, and it WILL be the end of my shift.

The funny thing is, I would have not even thought about that 3 months prior.
