So I started working at this retail store in November for Black Friday and there have been a lot of changes with the company, with the managers and staff etc. This past semester I have been busy with school so I was working part-time so that I could be able to have a work/school/life balance. Recently, we had a birthday party come to the store and I got called in because they were short staffed. But before I went in my manager told me —by text— that she would venmo me extra if I came in. I asked her if she could add it to my hourly wage to which she replied that she couldn’t because it was coming out of her own pocket. I gave her my venmo and have dropped several hints that she hasn’t paid me yet, but still haven’t gotten anything. Is it even legal for my manager to bribe me to come into work and not follow through?
