In general, what are y'all's thoughts on any faux-pas, fake sounding, bullshit “management” title and how you treat that person any differently.
A little back story, I help my clients navigate the job market and their long-term career planning (on a non-profit basis with much more to be said about the life my client wants first and how/if/when to pursue a job to fulfill that more wholesome life-planning).
I had a client today complain about a shift lead at a past Starbucks they worked at. My client told me tales of being ridiculed, belittled, all the usual from a fucking shift lead. To which I'm like, “if they can't fire you without approval from an actual manager, then they ain't no manager.” (Paraphrasing a tad).
So that's my general take. If you can't hire or fire without approval from a higher person, you are not a manager. And when one of those bullies tries to rattle my client's feathers, I like to remind them of that.
But I'd love actual opinions on this. To me it's just an early indoctrination of the sell out into the whole ratrace game lifestyle.
