Thoughts on changing teams at work to avoid working weekends?

Hi Reddit, I would like some advice on my current situation. I've been working at my current company for a year and am technically in a rotation program where I can switch positions one time after about 12 months. I hadn't planned on rotating out of my current job, but recently have been thinking about doing so. The reason for this is because part of my current role requires supporting testing, which pretty much happens every month in some sort of capacity. My team doesn't schedule the tests but we have to have 1-2 people from our team physically be in the lab to support it. The catch is, these tests sometimes happen on weekends, and those who schedule it don't tell us until a few days before. Sometimes on the day of the test they'll deem that we're not ready to go, and we have to come back on…

Sometimes on the day of the test they'll deem that we're not ready to go, and we have to come back on a different date. And, the tests usually start 7am East Coast time (I'm on Pacific time), so I have to go into the lab at 4am. One of my coworkers went in at 4am 4 Sundays in a row, for example.

When I first started working I didn't think much of the tests since I didn't realize it was a part of my job responsibility. My teammates pretty much handled all the test support. But it seems that now that I have gained some experience, my team wants to train me so that I can support these tests going forward. I really don’t want to since it would create the stress of not knowing my schedule. I usually plan events for weekends weeks in advance.

What are your thoughts on rotating out of this position for another role which does not support testing/weekend work? I feel a bit bad because everything else in this position is fine. I am also hesitant to leave because that would mean I would need to start from zero again in terms of knowledge, work relationships, and proving my capacity at work.

Thank you!
