Hey antiworkers,
Need some advice from your side.
I'm a middle manager in a listed company, working and living in a country where it's very difficult to fire anyone without a massive severance package.
I busted my ass for years only to discover recently (the magic of shared files on google drive) that my predecessor was paid 20% higher than me while being at a “lower” hierarchic level (ie less responsibility). Most of the managers at the level below are also paid 15-20% above me from what I gathered. People at the level above are paid double. I don't have any data on any employee at the same level as me.
I have been trying to get a raise for months and even threatened to resign if I don't get it but my manager doesn't seem to care / be able to grant this raise. I don't have any other attractive job opportunity.
Do you see any risk in threatening your manager to quiet quit? ie “give me 20% raise or I'll just show up and do nothing at work”? Has anyone ever tried such an angle, and what was the result?
I am getting tired of working for less than I deserve. This seems to be the only way.
Thanks in advance for your kind replies!
