To Above and Beyond

Going “Above and Beyond” at work is for the birds. Sure, when you first start to work, going above and beyond would seem like a good idea at first. However, over time, you are not the one reaping the benefits. Maybe you'll get a 3.28% raise, or a fancy new job title, but all that will do is land you more hard work. Last I checked, “being a friend” was not in my job description. “Doing you a favor” is not in there either, nor is “Call me on my personal phone after hours.” Meanwhile, everyone else higher than you benefits. It's not that we don't LIKE to work, it's that more and more employees are realizing that working hard isn't as glamorous as it seemed. These employees are finding their voice and speaking up for themselves in a toxic environment. These employees are seeing that they are not alone…

It's not that we don't LIKE to work, it's that more and more employees are realizing that working hard isn't as glamorous as it seemed. These employees are finding their voice and speaking up for themselves in a toxic environment. These employees are seeing that they are not alone in their struggles against corporations.

But what do I know? I'm just a bottle of sunscreen.
