Earlier this week, I got a cold call from a life science recruiter that is asking me to relocate to WI in order to fill a series of vacancies. I have not reached out to their agency for new positions, but I keep myself open to new opportunities. A few things stood out during the lengthy phone call:

  • The offered pay is for what I was making at my first job out of college.

  • There are 8 positions that need to be filled asap.

  • The position(s) expect 6+ years of advanced experience in the field, performing tasks that are usually left to R&D or management.

  • They are recruiting and relocating nationwide.

I'm already apprehensive, since I know right away that the company doesn't pay well, a whole bunch of people left abruptly, there is no opportunity to advance, poor coverage, poor management, and they can't hire local talent. We have a proper interview scheduled next week, but I wonder just what weird or awful directions this could go. Whoever you are, I am proud of all of you. I wish you well in this industry. Know your worth!
