Antiwork

To the man who was super exited at his new job yesterday

I was shopping at a drugstore/healthstore the other day and I was approached by a very cheerful, in a forced way, over the top helpful guy, who was way too nice to every customer. He acted like he was treating clients at a 7 star hotel while he was working for a budget drugstore, probably with a temp contract. It was extremely painful to watch, and uncomfortable. Not that it was the guy's fault. I felt bad for him. Being completely antiwork, I instantly looked at his chef who was walking around. Drumrolls. Face so depressed it was dragging across the floor. No will to live. And now she can suck the soul dry of An ambitious naive man, the last man who “still wants to work”, of course because he has obviously not worked a day in his life before, otherwise he would not be happy. The sad thing…

And now she can suck the soul dry of An ambitious naive man, the last man who “still wants to work”, of course because he has obviously not worked a day in his life before, otherwise he would not be happy. The sad thing is that people like the guy usually only last there for a week or two. Last time I saw a man this happy and overacting was at the post office and it made all the employees and customers cringe, not the friendliness, but the contrast between their annoying mundane jobs and the joy of a newcomer. One week later he was gone. There you go. Never ever try to be enthousiastic in a new job. You don't have to act, you are not an actor. You are on trial period in a week contract and underpayed, you are supposed to be angry. You are not even supposed to be working. You can be eager to learn and take notes but never ever act loudly enthousiastic. You are like a bunny dancing in front of a wolf, you are a useful idiot, you are going to be sucked dry for a few days and then fired. You are everyone's laughing stock.
