It's done, thanks to an amazing Redditor who reached out to cut through the maze of bullshit my ex-employer had tried to make us believe.
Here's the TLDR : During the pandemic the government extended to people who were furloughed (temporarily let-go) a stipend to help us make ends meet. My ex-employer made us work once we qualified making us bank hours that he ended up not paying us.
I ended up complaining but instead of getting paid was told I was part of a 'con' and should let it go.** I was then let go permanently**.
Well turns out, I wasn't part of any con and that the only con was what came out of his mouth. About a month ago, he found out my band was getting some media attention and tried to make me talk about the 'values' I learned in that job.
Instead today I finished a complaint with my province's worker protection agency and that will most likely lead to a complete audit of their business by the Federal Revenue Agency.
Wanted to come here to thank you all, this story made Newsweek and created a lot of buzz which led to AntiWork members donating to the Children's Hospital Foundation.
