I just wanted to share this cause it still irks me to this day.
I was working as a contractor for a company that was slowly becoming very strict about their driving rules. Great job, great benefits and wages but their stringent policies for driving their vehicles really escalated rapidly and very very quickly. Anyways one day I get to the shop and the manager pulls me aside and says someone called in on me saying I cut them off and ran them off the road… me completely clueless what the hell he’s talking about just told him to check the million cameras they have installed on the truck and show me where I cut someone off.
2 weeks later I get an email from the HR department that in a week from the date of the email I’m due for a 1 day (8 hours) safety orientation followed by 3 days suspension without pay for the complaint I received 2 weeks prior after they’ve investigated it. And this being my 2nd incident** in a year. I watched the video and it was a woman merging on the highway and I was on the highway and didn’t move over for her to merge but she didn’t have the common sense to slow down or speed up to merge and instead paced me until she ran out of road and fell down a drainage grass hill.
The day of my safety orientation I showed up to the shop, walked over to the manager’s desk, gave him the truck keys and told him y’all need to check how the laws work and to go fuck himself, then proceeded to visit each individual that conducted the investigation and told each one of them the exact same thing then I walked out and took a taxi home.
For 2 months they called me every day repeatedly basically begging me to come back to work and that they’ll drop the charges against me, little did they know I had begun the process of starting my own business in direct competition to them, I eventually stole their 9 highest grossing customers simply because I was the face they dealt with before and they were very comfortable switching their business to mine since I have established a professional buddy buddy relationship with them.
4 years later (today) I now run a successful & profitable 62 employee business, 16 of which were the best of the best from my previous employer and this year I have officially dwarfed them in first quarter profits for the first time. I’ve made it a personal agenda to cripple them since the day I walked out and I can now finally say I have gotten my revenge.
**first incident was me getting rear ended at a red light, not my fault but they hold it against you anyways.
End of rant
