I’ve been doing far an above what my title/pay would suggest really all year, to the point I came in the day after my father died because I knew if I didn’t, dozens of people working on a multimillion dollar project would be stuck. Now that the boss who hired me isn’t there to back me up and fight for me, it’s exploitation season.
This isn’t a “woe is me” post (I was stupid and should have known better, but my instinct is to try to help out) as much as it is a warning. Exploitation is the goal. Anything extra you do is saving them money, and they have no incentive to change that. People who get high up in large companies do so through manipulation and politics, not through hard work and competence. Look out for yourself and your fellow workers.
