I was an English major in my university years, my GPA was 3.19/4 which was not bad in my opinion, i got IELTS 7.5 band in June and I don't think anyone, especially young people, whose capability is much better than me, should work in this company, from now I'll call A.
This company A is proud of itself to have been in the educational field for several decades and “helped many learners change their life”. TBH my family didn't have enough money to pay for A's level of fee for me even 20 years ago. I sat at the front desk to work for 2 months and I heard all the ridiculous things that sales team “planned” for parents to hear.
I started mid May, without any proper training. I had to ask everyone from every other branches to know about my full scope of work, what i should follow and how to do the operating work for a branch.
My boss, she's always proud of herself to be the “second fastest person to get to the manager position at A”. She's my line manager, my job included all things related to “operation” and she doesn't know anything about “operation”. I'm in charge of inventory, my boss doesn't even know where is the inventory function on the company's working system. I'm in charge of teaching assistant schedules and checking their admin tasks, my boss just told me post job recruitment posts, call applicants, interview them, send them to get training, check if all of their tasks are done properly and manage teaching assistant schedule. I'm in charge of teaching assistant salary, which based on policy is my boss' responsibility, my boss just refused to read the instruction from HR and refuse to listen to my direct instruction to how to create a proper salary report.
Not to mention all other un-named task like fixing the photocopiers, printing nametags, checking teaching resources…
I did asked for another person of the same position as mine, to share the work, but the higher ups didn't granted one. They refused to looking for another person since “this is a new branch, there's no need for another operation staff.” But the next day, there was another salesperson.
I called quit at the end of August and my boss asked me these things yesterday:
– Please help her to look for another person to work in my position, same benefits as I'm having (which are: lower than fresher level salary, no proper day off, managing all the workload that should by done by a team of at least 2 people)
– After i leave, help her to manage inventory and salary report. For inventory, i straight out refused since i couldn't even do it properly while i'm here then how the heck can i do it remotely. For salary, i didn't give a proper response.
– Help train the newcomer (if there will even be any), even allow them to come to my new workplace/my house to train them for the position (hello, i didn't have proper training and now you're asking to train other people???)
I just don't have any energy left for this job, my boss, even my colleagues (the sales team). I just feel bad for the TAs because I was the one looking through their application forms, interviewed them, sent them to get proper training and now I chose to leave them here.
