So I'm currently working in a deli. This is my first job out of the military and I get paid 11 dollars an hour and barely get 32 hours a week. My boss is very touchy and sensitive when it comes to his stress level and hired me on to learn what he does and eventually take his place as the manager, thinking my military experience would be good for it. Also the current assistant manager will be working with me towards this goal of us running the place sometime in the future together. Yet I get brought into his office today to get yelled at for making a comment about not getting paid enough to do this which I don't and neither does the AM. I got told how unprofessional it was and how he was about to give me a raise and now has changed his mind and thinks I don't need to be working here anymore. All of this after having a Convo with him about how expensive life is and how hard it is getting just to get by. Do workplaces just not get it? I truly don't understand I wasn't even being rude I just casually brought up in conversation that I need to make more money, and he seemed offended that I even suggest it. Idk what do y'all think about all this?
