Training a new hire for a position I want

My old manager left over a year ago, when he left I was promoted to Assistant Operations manager and picked up a lot of slack. This week (over a year later)they finally hired a new Logistics manager for my department. I am being told I am training him, but he is considered my equal for now, but they want him to eventually be the new Operations Manager, which then I will report to him. I’ve worked my ass off and have advocated for myself multiple times over the past year that we haven’t had a manager. I was told by a female manager that a man would be a better fit for the position because our vendors are more receptive to men. I am obviously pissed, I love what I do and the fact this guy is just walking into this position because of his gender is really upsetting. I…

I also need to keep my job until I find something new, I don’t know what to do and I honestly feel like shit about myself and my skills.
