I’m sure anyone who works in hospitality can relate to the amount of verbal abuse you get as a waiter/waitress.
Oh, what’s that? My coffee will be a bit late because you’re short staffed and have a wait on drinks? Well, better take out my frustration on the poor lone barista whose stressed out of their mind!
Oh, look at this! There’s a wait on tables? Time to make a huge fuss about it and tell the staff how they’ve ruined my day because I couldn’t get food right there and then!
Oh no! The waitress is so stressed she accidentally spilled my drink while delivering it to my table, time to tell her she’s the scum of the earth!
Oh dear. The waiter is going through a hard time a home? Don’t care, if I don’t get 5 star service I’ll make their life even more of a hell!
The only reason I even stay on in this hellhole of a place is so I can save up enough to get out. The vast majority of our staff is going through enough hell in their lives because we work to get verbally abused on a daily basis and can’t even stand up for it because we’re then reprimanded by one of our managers for being ‘rude and unwelcoming’ on top of that he’s constantly giving us more and more work to do at the end of the day as if we’re not running around like headless chickens he thinks we’re lazy. I’m certain people like him have never actually worked the floor in hospitality a day in his life.
