Trying to get fired from my job, will this work?

So I’ve been at this job for about 6 months and the conditions are pretty bad and I want to leave. I’m an engineer in a manufacturing plant. I essentially work 60 hours a week and get paid for 40 since I’m salaried. The stuff I’m doing is largely manual labor and not really what I signed up to be doing. My career is essentially progressing backwards by being here, and my health and quality of life are taking a toll due to my hours. I intend to: Only work 8 hour shifts and leave immediately after the 8 hours I get paid for. Refuse to do manual labor that’s outside of my job description. The reason I’m set on getting fired is because they funded my relocation to here, and I’ll have to pay it back if I leave within 2 years. However, the job I thought I signed up for is very far off base to the actual job. Obviously being able to get unemployment would be a benefit too.

I’m already actively looking for a job and have enough saved to live for a couple months. But I would prefer to not be indebted several thousand to them and would like to be able to get unemployment if need be. The other option is basically quitting. I have no intention to stay there.

Will this work? Is informing my boss a good idea or not? What would you do in this situation? Any advice appreciated, thanks.
