Trying to get my dang employee discount

Started a new job recently at a company that offers some decent employee discounts on assorted things. The process for registering for my discount has been a nightmare of ups, downs, false information, runaround, and several hours on the phone with multiple different departments. Eventually I was told “this is something you need to talk to HR about, we can't help you.” Yeah, we'll see about that when I talk to them. So I try to get in touch with HR. They've got a nice handy page on our intraweb for all my benefits-related questions! Super easy self-serve options!

Do they have any information about how to actually call HR and discuss my weird unique situation? Oh hell no! It's just more circles, being directed from one webpage to another, each one repeating the same things stated by the previous one.

So I started digging a little deeper into other HR services. Hmmmm…. they've got another page for discussing Union Issues. I wonder what's behind that door! So I gave it a click, and amongst all of the usual and entirely expected stuff about “we don't think unions are necessary for our workplace family” they offered SO MUCH CONTACT INFORMATION. Need to call HR? Here's a phone number! Want to email them? Here's an address! Here's a live chat window too, or an incident submission form you can fill out, and there's even a mechanism for adding attachments!

So, lesson learned: if you need to get HR's attention about any subject at all, cry “union” and they'll trip over themselves to hear what you have to say.
