Trying to stop crying right now – got fired as part of Union busting efforts

I had previously talked in the break room about the benefits of unions, asked what my co-workers thought of other stores unionizing, and how with inflation we had basically gotten pay cuts. A month ago my boss pulled me into her office and said that “she had heard me discussing pay in the break room” and how “she thought it was a red flag that I didn’t come to her to discuss pay”. She used the exact words “red flag” several times in that conversation when talking about me. I explained to her that I was talking about inflation. How I said “A year ago a pair of Darn Tough socks cost $15 and amounted to a little under an hours worth of work. Now that same pair of socks costs $25-$28 and I have to work about 2 hours – twice the work for the same product.” My boss…

My boss replied that she had been working at the company for 5+ years and that if you wanted to make better money you needed to put in the work and try to get promoted.

I was officially fired for
– sitting on a counter (something other people did)
– viewing pro deals at the register (after I had seen other people doing that)
– allegedly not helping with closing tasks one night (I have no recollection of this)
– not promoting the co-op (I didn’t push a guy from Canada as hard as I could have to get a membership)

I am upset because I really liked my job, the customers that I got to help, and the benefits that I got. I had been saving up to get an e-bike and now that’s completely moot since I don’t work there anymore. This happened less than an hour ago and I’m still trying to process.
