Two trial shifts?

My GF has just had a 3 hour trial shift with a restaurant, and they’ve asked her to do another ‘trial shift’ this week. I’ve explained to her I think the company is stiffing her, and that it’s likely they’re just asking her to do 6 hours work for free, but she’s arguing saying she wants the job and that the ‘pay is good if i get it’. She’s convinced that she basically already has the job, but in this case why wouldn’t she just be able to start doing paid work. Surely it isn’t normal to be asked to do two trial shifts? Should I try and convince her of this or let her do one more, but make sure she makes it the last free shift she does? I think she’s too taken by the lure of the job. If she gets it and the job is what it seems it’ll be worth it, but i don’t remember ever doing an unpaid ‘trial shift’ for more than an hour in customer service. PS we live in UK so US law doesn’t apply
