I used to work at a 24hour restaurant 6 days a week doing 10 hour night shifts. They’d even call me on my one day off. Customers were nitpicking and whining about every little thing, usually to try and get a refund and discount or more food. The servers constantly had drama, either with the cooks or each other. The amount of times I would say I was going to look for another job were innumerable. The problem was that between my sleep and work and housework, I had no time to do interviews, fill out insanely long online applications with the same questions 100 times, make calls, or put effort into finding a new job without missing work. The only way that I found a better job was to walk out, and stop working. I got a new and much better job in a little over a week.
I had enough of the disrespect and the insanity of my schedule. People will tell you it’s easier to find a job when you already have one, but it is virtually impossible. If you give them a two weeks notice, they are likely to demand the most work you can do with them in that time to try and deter you from making the change. They’ll take every opportunity from you to keep you in their little cult, and pay you pennies and maybe a thank you.
