Union electrician here. I have started interviewing with companies for maintenance positions simply to waste their time.

It started when a client started trying to poach my crew members by hounding them every time they went to do some work because they don't want to pay our union rates and want an in house electrician to pay half of what they pay us. I want to be clear that I do not apply to competing non union shops. That is a big no no. I find jobs posted on linkedin or others that are wanting basically master level electricians that know every aspect of electrical work. Stuff that even as a JW electrician I would need specialty training and would get a premium salary for. And they only want to pay $18 an hour. So I apply, get them all excited because of my extensive credentials. Then refuse the offer and tell them to triple their pay and benefits package if they want me to consider. So…
