US Healthcare and dentistry is such a joke. I have insurance but it’s shit and I’m barely an adult (it’s my dads insurance). My wisdom teeth were infected and causing me massive pain so I went to the dentist for an emergency extraction. I got hit with a 1300 bill AFTER insurance. And then they told me I needed a root canal and asked me why I didn’t go to the dentist sooner. This is why.
A couple months later, I go to a new more affordable dentist and my tooth is wayyyy worse and I’m probably gonna be paying out of pocket for it. And guess what! They don’t take my insurance so I’ll be paying at least 500 upfront! 😀
I should NOT need a college degree to afford proper dental care and a place to live in the U.S., plus buy groceries, and pay bills. Now I have to skip my anti depressants for a month or risk going septic.
