Hi all. Throwaway account so I wanted to spill some beans on some telecom company which starts with r in canada. This happened to one of my friends 1 year back.. Basically the company hires people in two ways. One is directly and other is through outsourcing company . Let's talk about second way. If hired through outsourcing and if you are in canada they will hire you again via another company. So company x will hire you as full time and give them to company named y and then they give you as contractor to r company. All good here but here are few things If company r terminates contract you will loose job completely No benefits or pay increase by company which hired you full time. This happened to one of my friends 1 year back.. Basically the company hires people in two ways. One is
directly and other is through outsourcing company .

Let's talk about second way. If hired through outsourcing and if you are in canada they will hire you again via another company. So company x will hire you as full time and give them to company named y and then they give you as contractor to r company. All
good here but here are few things

  1. If company r terminates contract you will loose job completely

  2. No benefits or pay increase by company which hired you full time.

  3. Company a is shell company operated by company r .

  4. If y company is charging company r say 100 dollars out of it you get only 30 dollars rest is eaten away by them.

  5. Hiring and retaining is all done by company r. And fun fact is company r which is client here decides how much to pay at I.e 30 dollars even though it pays y company 100 dollars so either rest is invoiced to show as we are paying this much to show as tax evasion or someone from company r is eating money.

  6. They simply terminated my friend without giving proper 2 week notice without giving proper reason saying they just did it because project is completed. They still have projects and her coworker is not fired. Even though no work was given to her coworker. Literally she is just sitting idle. I am thinking She is fired because mostly she found out this.

I knew companies practice tax evasions but this out of proportion for big companies. Legally tbh we can't prove this is happening.

Fun fact is that manager knows but still says it's not their hands to do anything as they need to let her go because no projects but its a lie as they hired new people on same skills is what made me laugh. Lying crooks .
