I normally don't take breaks at my job, I work 8 hours through and take a 15 when I think I need one. This happened at my old job too but I didn't expect it here. Due to consolidation of departments, my shifts are becoming longer under the guise of a forced lunch, even though I'm at work now longer because of a “break.” Why cant the lunch be paid and we leave on time? Is the business going to crumble if I work 7.5 hours? Unlikely.
No one asked if we wanted this, most of the people I've talked to who have been doing it for a long time hate it. I can't quit until I find a better job or my lease ends. Why is my life schedule up to a faceless higher up who i'll never even meet? Why do they think an extra 30 minutes will make any difference in my productivity? Who does this help? Why am I going insane for a stupid restaurant that barely anyone eats at? Love the USA baby!!!
