One of my jobs benefits was that they offered unlimited PTO. Once I first started I thought “oh wow that’s going to be great I won’t have to worry about needed time off when I’m sick or need a break from work, this place must really care about their employees.”
Well, that was a lie.
I went to take the long Mother’s Day weekend off to celebrate some time with both of my Moms and my work denied the request? Wtf?! I went to my manager and demanded that I receive an answer to this denial and all he said was “it’s up to our discretion if we need you then that’s too bad.”
I was outraged. I needed time off especially since I hadn’t taken any of this year yet and my only request was denied.
I couldn’t quit because I needed the money, but I didn’t know what to do. It’s crazy that employers can lie to their employees and get away with it!!
