Antiwork

Unreasonable request.

I work in a “prestigious” hospital in London in a team of 5 ladies. I’m sure everyone is aware of the bus/ tube and train strike on Friday, 19th August. Three colleagues have already taken a day off for that day, the 4th person lives nearby and I’ve been asked to come in. I live far away and if the bus will be available on my area, it will take me around 2.5 h to get to work (without traffic, one journey only) however I will be cursing the whole journey as it’s extremely hot, no AC and it’s packed. I’ve always been present to work on every strike that happened. And the same ladies took days off. I’ve been told they will reimburse the transport but, they will send it with my salary, which means I will have to pay tax for it. I’m genuinely offended by the situation…

I’m genuinely offended by the situation I am currently in and I’m at a point where I feel like not turning up. It’s really unfair I’m asked every single time to come in where I’m other colleagues just take easily a day off and don’t give a damn about the hassle.

Please could someone advise how can I deal with this?

PS: WFH apparently is not an option 🤦‍️
