I apologize in advance if the post seems whacky, I'm on my phone. For those of you that want to read which incident is was; it's #2.
I did not file the police report when the assault initially happened. I did write a full statement mimicking exactly what I had on recording. It was sent to HR (the statement, nothing about the recording), I heard nothing from them for days. Only email I got from them was this :
“OP, Based on the investigation we have done regarding this matter, we have a made decision and 'Ted' is no longer working for the company. If you have any questions, you can feel free to follow up with your DM or me directly.”
Queue several days of Ted coming in and out of the office to grab his stuff, not saying anything to me or making eye contact. Aside from this, work was hellish for me and I did leave the company shortly after.
(At some point I did go in to grab the remainder of my stuff that wasn't thrown out and I actually saw our older driver (84M) clocking out for work. I asked my old manager if he's been ok, and they told me that he had another diabetic episode after I left the company. I still can't believe they are allowing him to work.)
This past Monday, I saw I had missed a phone call from Ted. I called him back, the entire exchange was about 12 minutes long, if I need to transcribe it here I will. But basically, he kept telling me that he can't find work, that he's getting denied jobs because he assaulted a woman and that I need to retract my statement. He tried several times to get me to lie and admit that he never touched me, even though later on in the phone call he stated that he did. He said “I know, and you know, in your heart that this never happened” and to retract my statement. He told me he shouldn't have said anything to his lawyer, but his lawyer is pushing him to take me to court over this, as there are “no witnesses” so therefore it's my word against his – except, and I have not admitted this to Ted or anyone working there, I have him on audio recording.
My father told me to go to the police and file a harassment and threat report, since Ted took it upon himself to call me and try to coerce me into lying.
I haven't done anything yet, my own experience with reporting stuff to police has never been productive. I'm just kind of at a loss as to why Ted thinks he can take me to court or try to scare me in retracting my statement when he's the one that started this whole thing. Also, I recorded the entire phone call when I called him back.
