I went in this morning, bracing myself for the worst case scenario.
A little background about this trip, my dad died last year from COVID. This trip to Spain wasn't something I can 𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒂𝒇𝒇𝒐𝒂𝒓𝒅 as some of you have so 'politely' brought up. My sister is in school in Madrid and I'm going woth my Mom so that we can have a family outting.
My father took me and my sister to many places, even though he couldn't walk or enjoy them himself he thought it was important.
I don't have many experiences like that with my mom, so this is truly a once in a lifetime trip. There is no rescheduling. I am going to Madrid.
My boss forgot that this was my destination and immediately was like, 'oh shit'.
So yeah, as of right now I'm going to Madrid, and we're going to be short stagged for a week and 2 days.
I was ready to be fired, but it didn't happen.
I think this experience has shown that its worth taking the time to explain a situation to your boss, because they are people and people are forgetful..
If anything changes I'll be sure to update you guys. Thankyou for your support, and to those whom pushed me to not be hasty I thank you above all else.
Resolved.
