UPDATE: I’m quitting over this.

Original Post: here That post gained a lot more attention than I thought it would, I mostly posted it to get it off my chest but there were a lot of comments that made me realize… I'm a pushover lol. Anyways, that is changing and I will never, ever, again put myself in that position. — Anyways, on to the update: I got a call for an interview and they were very accommodating to my, at the time, current work schedule. The manager and boss both stayed after hours for this interview. About five minutes into the interview they cut straight to the point and said “Can you start Monday?” This was on a Thursday evening and I absolutely said yes. Anyways, on to the update:

I got a call for an interview and they were very accommodating to my, at the time, current work schedule. The manager and boss both stayed after hours for this interview. About five minutes into the interview they cut straight to the point and said “Can you start Monday?” This was on a Thursday evening and I absolutely said yes.

I worked Friday at my old job and stayed later than everyone else stating I was “finishing some things up”. I drafted my one sentence “I quit, do not contact me, you can mail my W-4 to xxx address.” resignation letter, removed all personal (things I made) systems/how to documents/etc. to help myself/others out, video recorded my exit where I placed all keys and letter on the bosses desk and locked the office door behind me (just in case boss wanted to say I didn't give up my keys or something).

Monday I started the new job which:

  • Started me out at $23/hr for way less work, I'm focusing on A/P, A/R, some phone calls (if directly related to my duties), and will not be responsible for anything else.
  • I am getting medical, dental, and vision insurance (never had this before) at no cost, the new employer pays it all. No 401k or anything though but that's alright, I've decided to just start my own savings account for retirement anyways.
  • I work Monday through Thursday and get a 3 day weekend. Once a month I work a Friday, which Friday is up to me.
  • I now get some paid vacation (up to two weeks paid, two weeks not paid if I want to take it, no rollover time so I do have to use it up in a year and then it resets).
  • Sick days and mental health days are a thing here (just don't get paid for them), no doctors note needed, no questions asked.

I can't believe I put up with my ex-bosses shit for so long when opportunities like this were around me I just never looked. I do unfortunately have an extra 45 minute one way commute each day but its so fucking worth it (just hope the ol' trusty car can keep it together long enough I can afford to get a newer one with less issues), plus the drive is actually scenic and not bumper to bumper traffic so therapeutic in a way.

I guess it just worked out for me and I'm thankful. I've been here two weeks now and I already love my coworkers and this atmosphere. Haven't heard from the ex-boss as I don't have social media and changed my phone number lol.

Life is good for now.
