Reasoning and Findings

ORIGINAL POST

My previous employer fired me while I was on medical leave following a major surgery. As requested, I was regularly supplying letters from my surgeons office that explained I wasn't released to return yet. My last doctor's note I submitted included a specific return to work date. The date was a few weeks out.

I had been working there for less than 1 year. It's a right to work state. It's a shitty situation, but it is what it is. During my medical leave I received a call and email from HR. It stated on that date they were separating employment due to my medical leave. In the letter, my previous employer said one of the main reasons was that they never received a return to work date. The verbage used was unprofessional. It made it seem that it was my fault I wasn't released to return yet.

The kicker of the situation… They told my state's unemployment department that I QUIT. I just found this out Friday. I'm still waiting for the states determination on my claim. I'm just shocked that they lied regarding my employment status. I expected better, but their whole treatment of the entire situation has been subpar so at least it's consistent.
