Upper management told me not to mention my bonus to employees not receiving one?

At my job we’re doing a roll out of an Alpha test for a new software system were using. We are expected to relay bugs and issues with the system as we use it. Its a call center wfh type job. Eventually everyone will be rolled out into the system once the alpha and beta test have been completed and the system has been refined. Around 15 people were chosen to test the system. Our extra compensation for this was a $1000 bonus for the month of testing. Part of that reason probably being we are missing out on some commission opportunities because work duties have been slightly shifted. Our extra compensation for this was a $1000 bonus for the month of testing. Part of that reason probably being we are missing out on some commission opportunities because work duties have been slightly shifted. When I was told I’d be receiving this $1000 bonus I was heeded to refrain from mentioning this to the majority of people not chosen to test the new system because they likely wouldn’t receive a bonus for when they’d be required to switch over. (They’d have their own paid training time to learn the system but no bonus most likely.) I was also told (but not until after the training and I agreed to be a part of the test ) that I’d be expected to help others as kind of a team lead to help the new people get familiar with the system, something that I wish had been stated up front. Is it worth to let people know in some way or form that the test group is receiving this large of a bonus? Do you think it would sour people against the company or the people that are being rewarded? Just something felt off that they felt they needed to explicitly mention that you might not want to let others know because it would upset them or something. When I think the reason for it is not wanting to be pressured by employees for more compensation or have morale lowered. Instead of paying people more they love to do small bonuses for top performing person of each department. Or my favorite, they have this fake company currency that you can earn by hitting certain goals each month. That you can use to erase absences, breaks, pto etc. instead of just giving people sick time, vacation time and other benefits that they deserve.
