Using PTO to make up for mandatory training?

First of all, I love my job. But there is this new policy. I work 4 days per week, 10 hours per day. Sometimes my employer has mandatory trainings which last a few hours, followed by social time where we will have food and beers. They've stated that they'll pay for the training and social time, but not a full day. So for a training and social activity that takes 6 hours, we'll be paid for 6 hours. These trainings used to be paid for the whole 10 hours. We also just had our HR guy leave so they might be just trying to create less work for themselves.

I also want to mention that this policy affects all hourly employees, including office folks who work 5 days x 8 hours per day.

Is this normal and OK? I don't know if I should say something or not, but I feel like being forced to work overtime or use my PTO is kinda… bad. Would love to hear some outside opinions. Thanks!
