Antiwork

Vent: I’m an assistant manager and I make the schedule. I get screwed over constantly prioritizing everyone else’s work/life balance etc. with NO respect or recognition.

Any time someone wants to change their availability suddenly for a second job they didn't tell me about, I make it work. They can't come in, I cover shifts. My GM is the type to say schedule them and they'll face the consequences, but when I find another solution (throwing myself under the bus) he just continues on like it's nothing. I'm doing everything that comes along with my position as well as working regular shifts. Recently, I got written up because the GM said he can't be “guessing when I'm going to be working” after I didn't reply to messages on my day off. I took a different day off because I had covered another shift that week. The worst part though is that I have bent over backwards for all these people, making sure they have two days off in a row.

Only working their favorite times/days. Keeping their schedule consistent instead of random days. Being the buffer between them and the uncaring corporation.

I lose every one of those things in order to fill in and keep their schedules that way.
Then they had the NERVE to tell the GM that I should be FIRED because I went ONE full day with my phone off. Happened to be labor day weekend. My service was off Sun night-Tues morning and I had nearly 30 calls/texts over the ~32 hours my phone was shut off. I work at a fn hotel. It's not life or death, people.

Mom's phone was stolen, we reported it online, they shut down the whole family plan. So it wasn't even my own doing that left me unreachable.

Rant over.
