I started working for a start up earlier this year, and quickly realized the owner is very well off. There was only 3 of us when I started, now there’s 4.
I was hired as an independent contractor and I’m treated as an employee. I work 40 hours a week with no benefits (started at 30). I’ve realized recently that this is probably highly illegal and I could probably sue her for this.
She’s terrible at communication and gives absolutely no direction for what she wants, but is very picky about the final product. I handle customer service and she expects me to give up some of my weekend to answer weekend emails. She will literally flag things to me to respond to when she clearly is capable of just doing it herself.
There’s a big event coming up that will be going on for the first two weeks of December. Im doing the hiring for this. Im offering people the same amount that I get paid… which is just insulting imo.
I want to just quit with no notice but I feel extremely guilty because I know my other manager is going to be screwed over if I do. So another option is to give two weeks but… I’m not sure if I can hang in there for that long. My hope is that if I do give a notice, she will treat me like crap and I will just be able to be like fine I quit then.
Im just over this constant anxiety and needed to rant. Should I be a decent person and give two weeks?
