veterinarian walked out

I work part time at a vet’s office that is a national chain and one of our main vets here (we have only a few perm vets the rest are floaters due to a shortage of vets) had been on sick leave due to an injury (didn’t happen onsite). Vet had been there for years and had sick leave to cover it. Higher up said no he didn’t and owed the company $1k usd to pay for them back for the time he took off for his injury. Vet got pissed off and rightly so and stormed out of office quitting right then and there. The company knows there is a shortage and even one vet calling in sick wrecks our office because we have to try and reschedule all their appts. Well obviously they don’t give a crap so yeah we all suffer cause of it.
