Walked Out On First Day

I started my first day at a home improvement retail store last night, since the starting pay was close to 17 an hour, I thought it’d be a good gig to be a cashier while in school. When I arrived to work nobody was being friendly like they pretended to be on orientation. They immediately made me do backbreaking work completely on my job description did not entail whatsoever. I was yelled at twice by an older, bitchy, female manager telling me, “You’re not working hard enough. Everything has to get done before we close tonight!” I just shrugged it off and kept doing my best. They just threw me in the fire with zero training or anyone to help, which was absolutely ridiculous. An assistant manager told me I was “too young and inexperienced to be working here.” As a college student who has worked in retail before, In not sure what makes me inexperienced, and too young to work at a job full of high schoolers. After the first 4 hours I’m entitled a 15 minute break, so after 4 hours passed, I went over to clock out so I could go on my break, to which my other manager stopped me and said, “you can’t go on your break now! You have to get more work done!” I replied to him and said, “I was specifically told in orientation that after four hours of working, I have to take a 15 minute break.” My manager kept telling me to get back to work, and I kept telling him I’m not going back to work until after I take my break. My manager told me, “you should be more grateful. So many kids have to grow up with parents who hit them and abuse them. You’re lucky you get to go to work.” Well Mr. manager, little do you know, I was physically and verbally abused by my parents my entire life. Such an honor. I immediately turned around and walked right out without saying another word. I drove straight home and spent the night with my lovely girlfriend instead. They called me multiple times already and won’t keep spamming me. I’d like to say that they’ll learn their lesson, but unfortunately, these type of people never do.
