I don't normally post here but I'm gonna be honest I could use some kind words. I am a college student who until today worked at a fast food restaurant. The manager of this restaurant has a temper shorter than his stature. About a week ago I was exactly one minute late for work, boss wrote me up and told me if it ever happened again I'd be fired. Today I clocked in 4 minutes early. Boss goes on a rant about “where do you get the right to clock in early” being generally verbally abusive as usual. I don't remember everything he said but I told the assistant manager who is generally more reasonable that I would no longer put up with being his punching bag. She said that what I said was reasonable and she'd talk to him. A few minutes later he stomps up to me and says that if I'm gonna threaten to quit that I should just quit then asked me if I wanted the job. I took my apron off and dropped it in the trash, as I was about to walk out the door he told me to clock out which I then told him to go fuck himself. I might not have a job now but it felt good to say and I will not tolerate his abuse any more
