Walked out.

Walked out of work today. I had a head of department position in one of the big hotels in Newcastle, UK but I just couldn't deal with all the bullshit that came with it. I was working 60+ hours a week, being on salary when it came to how much I actually made per hour it was less than they pay the lowest earning employees… the final nail to the coffin (on top of having to deal with staff shortages, supply shortages and horrible people in general who treated hotel employees like trash), was the fact that I've been feeling like crap since yesterday, did 2 covid tests and tested positive on both of them. When I told my GM he said “it's just a cold, it's not like you're dying” and then told me to stay at work… No amount of money is worth dealing with all of this.…

No amount of money is worth dealing with all of this. You have no life, no time for family or yourself and are expected to work crazy hours and take no days off…
And so, I walked out today, and I haven't felt this calm and peaceful in a long time.
