Wanting to advance my career in a new field.

Hello everyone! Long time reader, first time poster. I had a question regarding my employment struggles I guess you could call them. Currently I work in a plant setting, the pay is good, the hours are shit. I need more family time as I am a new husband and a new father. I want to make the most out of these precious times, but working 12 hour rotating shifts gives me no time to do that. I have experience in Sales, Customer Interaction face to face and over the phone, but it seems like that gets me nowhere in the world of sales and marketing. I don’t have a college degree (which doesn’t help my case), but I don’t understand why my experience doesn’t trump a degree. I suppose my question is whether or not it’s better to take the low paying sales gigs that I’m offered and try to…

I suppose my question is whether or not it’s better to take the low paying sales gigs that I’m offered and try to work my way up, or stay put in this environment and make all the money I’m able to while giving up that home time.
