Just ranting, letting words fly free to let out my annoyance and overall frustration. My work environment is a health clinic. Only 2 shift opportunities a day, with the majority of the 7 support staff being students.
The clinic manager expects us to have our requested days off over a month in advance (which is fine). But, doesn’t send the schedule until the day before the start of a new month and then gets upset when STUDENTS take off longer time periods for stuff going on (exams, events, etc) because of the monthly schedule thing we have-in place (it’s hard to predict exact timings for college events lmao). Today, we were all sent a long text about how we’re taking “advantage of their kindness” and how if this happens again it will be taken away.
Apparently the time off requests document (which is quite literally a shared notes app on IMessage) is meant for only taking days off if it’s for school or when we’re out of town. So if it’s only meant for that, besides the out of town, what’s the point of sending in our availability every three months if we can’t request off a day that we can’t work that is typically open?
Yeah, let me give up my life for a job that’s minimum wage, has no standard break or lunch period, and where we are expected to stay after to finish up paperwork, charting and cleaning. I was petty and upset so went back to the notes app with my dates written and wrote an explanation for each one. One of the longer chunks was for a religious holiday so hopefully that’s enough for their ignorant management to understand (since I’m the only POC and non Christian that works in the office.) I’m only working for May… going out of the country in June & July for a family matter. Totally quitting once I’m back August 1st :).
Did I mention how they’re planning on a second location to be opened in a few weeks and wanted us to drive back and forth during our planned shifts.
