Warehouses & Paychecks

Story: My work place has a semi-truck that delivers our products so we can unload them in the morning and get to stocking. The truck drivers usually come into the store and chat with our managers, get food, etc. This morning I overheard this truck driver (pry mid 60s) tell my manager that he heard the average length of employment at our warehouses [before the workers quit obviously] is 3 months. When I heard this I thought, “I’m wondering if the working conditions are as bad as target distribution or Amazon.” Then the truck guy says, “yeah I just don’t know what it is about the lazy workforce these days.” He also said something I don’t totally understand what he was trying to get at. But essentially he added that “back in the day” having a job was “an escape from the house” but now all my generation sees it…

Why do some people blame everything but the companies when it comes to employment? Are they just drinking the cool-aide?

Oh, and my manager agreed with him the whole way, and I could tell he wasn’t just doing it to be polite :/

TLDR: Truck driver says he “just doesn’t know what it is about the lazy workforce nowadays” after hearing that the average length of employment for a warehouse worker for our company is 3 months.
