In the interview I was told the position was 4 ten hour shifts. With an ot day some times, which would be a thursday. I was also going to recieve a relocation bonus and temporary living.
I was told to show up at 8 am today, a two hour drive, to give my id and social. That's it, and to me that means they are going to do a background check and start me once that comes back. That's how I've experienced that in every other job I've worked. So I go in, sign in with the guard, guard informs me that the HR rep I was scheduled to meet at 8 am today wasnt here and was on vacation. So I wasn't seen until 9 am, while my husband waited in the car. We already put an offer down on the house to the area we were relocating to and needed to give them the earnest money today.
I finally get in to see someone and a new person tells me after I hand over my id and ssn ill be working today and starting my work week. Not what I expected and not what I was told. So I go out to the car and inform my husband, we decided to get a hotel so I could go into work in the morning. I was already irked because I had already planned things for the house and I run my own business and have orders to send out. Bottom line communication was bad so we made plans.
So I go back in, my husband is going to take care of all the house stuff, and I work what I thought was going to be my schedule. My co-partner then informs me that it'll be an extra 2 hours after the time that I was told was the schedule 230pm. I guess I said it with my face and he went on to tell me that 12s for tms are normal and as supervisors we would be leaving after 430. I asked what time he normally comes in, I asked 30mins? He laughs sadly and tells me he comes in at 2am. My dude, tells me he hasn't has a twoday weekend in 3 years.
I like the people there on the floor. They all seem honest and open. I like my co-partner. So now I'm stressing out about the relocation, because I didn't realize I'd be out there all week, I thought I was coming out for a day. So I try and call the relocation agent 3 times before her office closed and nothing. Then I tried calling a 4th time but her office was already closed. I am 2 hours away from home and have to somehow afford a hotel for a week.
My man works 60 to 80 hour weeks on salary. At this point I'm pretty much checked out. I did the math after the shift was over and I would be making $11 an hour less than my current job even though I get paid more I work almost twice the hours. I never quit my other job because my job isn't bad, I just don't get agree with the leadership style my new GM has. So I just drove home and am now backing out of the buying the house.
I can't get over they were going to have me relocate just to misinform and lie about the scheduling then on top of that have the relocation rep ghost me.
I'm so glad I didn't leave my job. Grass is not always greener.
Poor communication from HR ️ Withheld and mislead information on the scheduling ️ Stranded ️ More hours, less money ️
